“Lecciones de Derecho Fiscal”, by Alil Álvarez Alcalá, is a book published in 2015 in Mexico by Oxford University Press, the department of the University of Oxford that promotes the objectives of excellence in research, learning and education through publications around the world. Alil states in her introduction that this book is a product of her classes taught at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), both universities in Mexico. The prologue to the first edition is written by Jesús Silva-Herzog Márquez, and states, “Alil offers a systematic overview of tax regulations without losing sight of its public impact, its economic effects and the international panorama. The educational benefits of the book are notable… conceptual precision, narrative organization, profuse references to applicable legislation.” The prologue of the book’s second edition was written by Eduardo Revilla, who states, “Alil chooses to break with Mexican doctrine tradition –which is limited to the study of the conceptual aspects of contributions– to additionally analyze with greater detail the conformation of our main taxes, to turn (this book) not only into a valuable piece, but also unique among books on national taxation.”
