“FISCAL REFORM IN MEXICO: ITS´S A DOG’S LIFE” (SEPTEMBER 2013)

Alil Álvarez Alcalá is quoted in “Fiscal reform in Mexico: It’s a dog life,” from The Economist’s print edition of September 14, 2013. The article quotes Ali, expressing that “Alil Álvarez, a tax lawyer, says the draft income-tax law was riddled with basic mistakes, and looked far less redistributive than it could be. She says that companies are likely to respond to the curb on deducting employee benefits by cutting jobs. They may also pass on a new 10% tax on dividends by cutting payouts to shareholders. She expects challenges to parts of the reform in the Supreme Court.”
